Frequently Asked Questions

Here are some of the most frequently asked questions about our community programs:

Are there any discounts available?

Yes, for art and soccer classes there’s a 10% sibling discount off the price of a second child and $20 off the price of a second class if you enroll in more than one. There is no multiple class discount for our drop off classes for preschoolers (Friends2gether, On My Own, or Ready, Set, Go).

Can we pay a pro-rated fee if we join a class mid-semester?

Yes. You must contact Jennifer Moore at jmoore@rutgerschurch.org to register on a pro-rated basis.

What is your policy on illness?

Children must remain at home while they have any sign of illness and for a full day after symptoms have disappeared.  If your child has had a fever, his/her temperature must be normal without the aid of fever-reducing medication for 24 hours before returning to class. Other symptoms, such as persistent coughing, sneezing, runny nose, diarrhea, vomiting, rashes and pinkeye are all reasons to stay home. Please stay at home or keep your child at home if you or your child have a fever, upset stomach, rash or other visible signs of illness. Rutgers Church and its staff reserve the right to send a sick person home. Please email Jennifer Moore at jmoore@rutgerschurch.org if you will miss class for any reason.

What is your policy on vaccinations?

In order to attend our Ready, Set, Go programs for preschoolers, children must be up to date on vaccinations.

What if I need to use my cell phone?

All cell phone calls and texts must be made outside the classroom. Please keep these communications brief.

What is your policy on food and allergies?

Allergies of any kind must be noted on registration forms. Nuts or food containing nut ingredients are prohibited in all of our classes.

What happens if there’s a snowstorm or other extreme weather?

If public schools close due to the weather, Rutgers programs will close as well.

May I get a refund?

Refunds are only granted if a person is medically unable to continue a class, and only for classes that will be missed (not for ones already attended).

Is financial aid available?

Yes, some scholarship funds are available. You can apply for financial aid by filling out and submitting the Financial Assistance Application, along with your most recent tax return and other supporting documents, to Jennifer Moore at jmoore@rutgerschurch.org.  Financial aid awards are need-based, cover partial tuition , and are strictly confidential.

How and when must payment be made?

Payment in full must be made before cases begin. Payment plans for the full price of classes in installments are available by prior arrangement with Jennifer. We accept checks or money orders made out to Rutgers Presbyterian Church, and also take Visa, MasterCard, American Express, and Discover cards. Payments for the Ready, Set, Go! preschoolers programs are generally made in two installments after a non-refundable, non-transferable deposit has been submitted, unless a family has made other payment arrangements with Jennifer.

Is there a registration deadline?

Payments for all classes must be made before the first class. Classes need a minimum number of enrollees in order to run. Rutgers reserves the right to cancel classes due to insufficient enrollment.

Are make-up classes allowed?

Make-ups are allowed in Handprints by prior arrangement with Jennifer when possible and if space permits. Make-ups must be taken during the semester the class was missed. Make-ups are not possible for all classes. No make-ups are allowed in Ready, Set, Go!, Friends2gether, On My Own, Cindy and Lesley’s Workshop or Once Upon an Artist. No credit for missed classes will be given.

Do you offer trial classes?

Yes. Trial classes in Handprints must be arranged with prior approval from Jennifer. Requests for trial classes must be made at least 48 hours prior to attendance. We do not offer trials for other programs.
